Legal
Privacy policy
Last updated October 3, 2026.
This policy explains what personal data Portfall (“we”) collects through this website, why, and your choices. It covers the website and waitlist only; the Portfall product will have its own terms and data processing agreement.
What we collect
- Waitlist details you give us: email address, and optionally name, company, role, team size, the code hosts and AI tools you use, and what you’re interested in. With it we keep where you came from (the campaign tags in the link you followed and the referring website, if any) and which version of this policy you saw.
- Emails you send us, if you contact us.
- Website analytics through Google Analytics, as described below: pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location, device and browser, and clicks on buttons such as “Join the waitlist”.
Why we use it
To confirm your signup, send you updates about early access and services you asked about, and understand which topics interest visitors. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.
Double opt-in
When you join the waitlist we email you a confirmation link. Your details are stored only after you click it. If you don’t, nothing is saved.
Where your waitlist details are kept
Once you confirm, your details are stored in our database on Google Cloud (Firestore, in the United States, us-central1) and as a contact with our email provider, Resend, which we use to send you updates. Only our team can see them. We don’t log your email address or name.
Every update has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing updates both places. To have your details deleted, email hello@portfall.com: we remove them from our database and from Resend, and keep only a record that a deletion happened (not whose).
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and topics are useful. It can set two first-party cookies on this site: _ga and _ga_<ID>, which distinguish visitors and sessions and expire after two years. We don’t use advertising features, Google Signals or ad personalization, and ad storage is always off.
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, nothing from Google loads until you click “Allow analytics” in the banner: no Google Analytics script, no cookies and no other signals to Google. If you decline or don’t choose, it stays that way.
- Elsewhere, Google Analytics is on by default and you can switch it off at any time.
We decide whether to ask from your browser’s time zone, because our hosting doesn’t tell us your country. If your browser reports a time zone outside Europe while you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the script may load, but Google is told to set no analytics cookies for visitors in those countries.
You can change your choice with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you switch analytics off, we delete its cookies and it doesn’t load again. We remember your choice in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) until you clear your site data. The blog editing area (the Studio) sets a sign-in cookie for our staff only.
Who processes it for us
- Google Cloud: website hosting and our database (Cloud Run and Firestore, in the United States).
- Google Analytics: website analytics, as described above.
- Resend: sending email and keeping waitlist contacts for mailing.
- Fontshare (Indian Type Foundry): serves the website font; your browser requests it directly, which shares your IP address with that service.
These providers may process data outside your country under appropriate safeguards. We don’t sell personal data or use it for advertising. We also use AI and web-search services to research and draft blog posts; they receive no information about visitors.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, and in any case we delete waitlist entries after 24 months without engagement. If you unsubscribe, we keep your entry marked as unsubscribed so that we don’t email you again.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict its use. Email hello@portfall.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
